The author

Iyad Ibn Musa Al Qadi (1083–1149), known as Al-Qadi Iyad, was an eminent Maliki scholar, cadi of Ceuta and then Granada, a major figure in medieval Islamic Andalusia. A renowned grammarian, jurist and traditionist, he devoted much of his work to the defense and illustration of the Sunna of the Prophet ﷺ. Al-Chifâ remains his most known and widely distributed work throughout the Muslim world.
